Both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services provide Batch service. These services are very similar in nature as they are trying to solve the same issue. Both are trying to run large-scale parallel and high-performance computing applications efficiently in the cloud.

Both the services leverage underlying computing infrastructure to execute the Jobs. Both have different mechanisms to save you cost. Where Microsoft leverages Hybrid Use Benefit (or HUB) licensing to reduce the cost of having Windows Server, AWS has integrated the usage of Spot instances directly to the AWS Batch service to reduce the cost of the underlying compute.

We will explore each platform's service in detail in the upcoming posts.
