When you are in any conversation related to the Cloud SLAs you will hear numbers like the SLA is 99.9% or 99.99% or more. What are those numbers and how they translate into uptime and downtime in a year? Let's take a closer look to understand these details.

99.9% uptime SLA

Let's start with 99.9% SLA i.e. three nines. SLA level of 99.9% uptime/availability means that you can have up to the following periods of allowed downtime or unavailability.

  • Daily: 1m 26s
  • Weekly: 10m 4s
  • Monthly: 43m 49s
  • Quarterly: 2h 11m 29s
  • Yearly: 8h 45m 56s

99.99% uptime SLA

SLA level of 99.99% i.e. four nines uptime/availability means that you can have up to the following periods of allowed downtime or unavailability.

  • Daily: 8s
  • Weekly: 1m 0s
  • Monthly: 4m 22s
  • Quarterly: 13m 8s
  • Yearly: 52m 35s
