Azure Site Recovery now supports cross-continental disaster recovery - although only for 3 region pairs

If you even had to create a strategy for your organization around Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery in Azure for Virtual Machines, the key product/offering you leverage is Azure Site Recovery or ASR. It actively replicates the data across different region and provides ability to failover in case of a disaster.

Azure Site Recovery now supports cross-continental disaster recovery giving a new meaning to failover. This feature is available for 3 region pairs. These pairs are:

1. Southeast Asia and Australia East
2. Southeast Asia and Australia Southeast
3. West Europe and South Central US

This means that a workload running in Southeast Asia can be replicated to Australia East and failed over across continents in case of a disaster.
