Microsoft retiring many older services by 29 February 2024
@20aman Feb 25, 2021Microsoft has recently announced that they are retiring a lot of older services. They have provided a generous deadline of "29th February, 2024" for many services to move to the newer version of these services. On that day the older services will be deleted by Microsoft.
I have created a list of the prominent ones that Microsoft has announced will retire on 29th Feb, 2024 are:
- Update your scripts to use Az PowerShell modules
- Switch to Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2
- Classic Application Insights
- AKS legacy Azure AD integration
- Jenkins plug-ins for Azure
- Network Performance Monitor
- Azure Network Watcher Connection Monitor (classic)
- Azure Batch ‘CloudServiceConfiguration’ pools
- Azure Application Gateway analytics
- Switch Azure Media Services REST API and SDKs to v3
- Classic Azure Migrate
- Update the Azure Cosmos DB Java SDK
- Azure Stack Edge Pro FPGA
- Azure Batch rendering VM images & licensing
- The standard version of Custom Voice
- Azure Cognitive Services Text Analytics v2.x
- Upgrade your Azure AD Connect sync to a newer version
- Azure Batch Transcription and Customization Rest API v2
There are few other services that Microsoft has announced will retire a bit earlier.
At least the first one in the above list can be easily taken care of. You can automatically migrate your scripts at least to the newer Az PowerShell modules by leveraging the migration tool and steps from here: Automatically migrate PowerShell scripts from AzureRM to the Az PowerShell module.
